Matthew 7:3-5 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your eye? Or how can you say to your brother, “Let me remove the speck from your eye; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
How many times do we look at others with judgement in our thoughts or even our words while we have the same issue going on in our lives? Unfortunately, probably more than we wish. Some of us have probably been called a hypocrite by others and some of us have walked away from a conversation silently calling ourselves the hypocrites. Doing so, while not knowing how to find healing in an area in our lives that we would like to surrender to the One that can heal. I have read this passage above many times over the years but the words past “hypocrite” never sunk in until I couldn’t do God’s work one day. I couldn’t speak the truth of God’s Word because I battled a particular sin. God redeemed me after a few years of prayer, surrendering and repentance. Now the plank has been removed from my eye and I can now help others with that same sin.
Lord, thank You for healing me and being patient with me as I surrendered yet another area of my life to You. Thank You for your forgiveness, grace and mercy. Help me to be obedient to You and to help others experience victory in You. Use me.
