Speaking to Believers in Christ,
I am pretty sure that some of us feel that our Christian walk is taking longer than we want to get where we want to be spiritually since accepting Christ as our Savior.
I have been working on my spiritual life for years and I am still not close to where I want to be. It also took years for me to realize He wants to sanctify all of me; spirit, body & soul. Not just parts of me and not simply part of the time.
He wants all of us, all the time. He wants us to grow in Him. This is all about Him, not about us! Selfishly, I didn’t know what denying myself or surrendering truly meant and I am still working on it.
After reading the Link to Our Daily Bread, think back to the picture of yourself that you would have drawn or the list of fleshly desires that over ruled your spiritual life that you asked God to redeem you from as a new believer. How differently does that picture or list compare with today?
If your comparison results in a great improvement please pray for the ones of us that struggle with maturity in our Christian walk. Prayer will not be turned down here.
If you are a regular reader and have read my “About” page you know that I had to seek a prayer partner to break free from a physical sin that brought spiritual death to my relationship with Christ. Through prayer and commitment to obedience to Him I experienced redemption that allowed me freedom to grow in Him. In my case, this was due to unconfessed sin and lack of obedience. Do not misunderstand, I still have issues that I deal with, and I still need prayer and will until the day He takes me from this earth.
If it has been awhile since accepting Christ as your Savior and the picture hasn’t changed much feel free to use my Contact page and I will confidentially pray for you or publicly leave a comment, whichever you are comfortable with.
1Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1John 2:16 For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world.
