Scheduling a Hawaiian Luau when visiting Hawaii seems to be a must. The Feast at Lele in Lahaina on Maui is set up slightly different than the average luau. You don’t see the pig being cooked in the ground and the performance is facing the beach. Therefore, as a spectator the beach is beside or behind you. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this when it was first explained to me but I quickly settled in and was pleased with the setup and I could still see the sun as it set over the ocean and behind the island of Lanai.
The location was well chosen. A few pictures of the surroundings:
We experienced four courses consisting of 3 dishes in each course, in this meal. Each course represented different Polynesian traditions: Hawai’i, Aotearoa – New Zealand, Tahiti and Somoa. As soon as we were seated we were served banana and Moloka’i Sweet Potato Chips along with a Tropical salsa with Ogo Seaweed. Delicious!!
The show was wonderful, entertaining and ended with a fascinating fire show. The service was timely and more than pleasant.
A very relaxing and entertaining evening with pleasant surroundings!
